The conversation will include an overview of policies and procedures, State Board Code updates, new initiatives, accountability, and a trend analysis. Quality programs are achieved through a strong partnership between colleges, local EMS departments, and the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services (NC OEMS). The growth of minority groups has broad enrollment implications at colleges and universities; however, academic achievement and college completion rates do not reflect this growth. Several studies reported that despite this rapid growth across states and enrollment increase; minority students are still experiencing challenges in continuing an education and lagging behind in pursuing a college degree. Most retention and degree completion difficulties arise because minority students face numerous barriers while attending higher education institutions. Several studies have identified some barriers minority students face in completing postsecondary education. Despite the many barriers and challenges, most minority students in America possess a strong desire to succeed attending community colleges.

The Employability Skills Alignment Project (ESAP) wrapped up in June. Learn how the project was conducted, what the finished product looks like, and how you can start implementing the Employability Skills: Essential Skills for Career Growth modulus throughout your college programs. This session will include practical strategies for using the new program in classes in HRD, CE, Curriculum and CCR. Additional conversation will revolve around how to use the program in student services and how to market the program to our employer partners.

Even seasoned nurses, including instructors, may find end of life conversations with a dying person difficult. This presentation offers a new insight into listening and responding empathetically to dying persons and their families. After attending this session, nurse aide instructors should be better equipped to guide nurse aide students to more effectively communicate with persons who are dying.

Scenario-based learning gives students a sort of immersion into what they learn and a hands-on approach. Learners are immersed in real-life and situational scenarios that lets them gather skills and information. Scenario-based learning provides students with a realistic scenario and involves applying strategies they have learned.
